Nut Sensors

Our thread and nut sensors detect the presence of a welded nut, in the correct location and with a quality thread - even through a blind or tapped hole in a sheet metal part. Nut sensors have a unique sensing probe that uses a radial detection field ensuring that the sensor can verify that the nut totally surrounds the probe.

Blank Sensing: Nut sensors use inductive proximity detection technology to sense the presence of a welded nut through a blank in sheet metal parts. These sensors have the widest range in the industry for more precise, accurate detection. And they are so sensitive they can be calibrated to detect thread presence and quality with a simple hand adjustment and an easy-to-read LED indicator.

Welding and Assembly: Our nut and thread detection systems are designed and proven to withstand harsh welding environments. The stainless steel probe and the sensing circuitry are purpose-built to be used as close as possible to the actual welding operation so badly built parts can be detected early in the assembly process.

Heavy Side Loading: The toughened version of our nut and thread sensors are built for heavy duty and heavy side loading applications. Collisions are no problem. They can even be used as gauging or locating pins. 

SNP: Nut Thread Detector

Norgren's standard nut sensor detects M5 to M12 nut ranges or thread presence, and works best in light duty applications with sensor tip radial loads up to 30 lbs.

SNS: Toughened Nut Thread Detector

Our toughened nut sensor can detect M4 to M12 nut ranges, or thread presences. Built to withstand heavy duty applications with sensor tip radial loads up to 38 lbs, the SNS series works best in welding applications, as it is immune to weld fields and resistant to weld slags. 

Nut Sensor Spring Mount

Norgren's nut sensor spring mount allows sensor probes to retract when the nut is out of place. Able to mount to any nut sensor excluding the SNS 10 & 12 series, this spring mount allows the sensor tip to offset up to 5 degrees off centerline of spring mount to locate misaligned holes. 

Monitor for Nut Sensor

Complete with LED lighting for on/off status of sensor, the monitor for the SNS series nut sensor has an interface that is directly programmable to controllers.
