About us

Pressroom:

We are the intelligent handlers that move parts through space to make your metal stamping operations world-class. We have combined our experience and expertise of over 70 years with the integration of ISI, Erie and Syron into the Norgren product portfolio.

From die and automation design, to the latest tooling technology, we have been inventing and manufacturing systems in metal stamping applications around the world to maximize SPM (strokes per minute), reduce start-up time and increase over-all equipment efficiency in the press room.

Vacuum:

We are vacuum experts with products ranging from vacuum generators, suction cups, vacuum switches, fittings and plug and play end of arm tooling (EOAT) to meet your design requirements. We have integrated the Vaccon company, with 50 years of expertise into the Norgren product portfolio.

Most options are modular allowing flexibility with your application. Our range of vacuum generators can accommodate high flow, material transfer, modular, inline and variable flow vacuum applications. Norgren vacuum products fit a variety of applications including food processing, medical, packaging, stamping, clamping, assembly and material handling and conveyance.

Key Dates in the History

1947

Erie starts die design.

1970

ISI designs the “Iron Hand”, the
firsthand clamp to pick up panels and
stamped parts.

1972

Vaccon was founded with the
development on the Vacuum
Conveyance Pump.

1974

Vaccon introduces it’s first
Venturi-style vacuum generator,
the “J” series.

1978

ISI launches the “BLU (belt lift unit),
the first automatic 2-axis press
loader and unloader.


Syron opens for business,
manufacturing Double Blank
Analyzer Systems and Control Panels.

1985

ISI launches the “Path Finder” capable
of fully parabolic transfers, with “Magic” software for press optimization.

1992

ISI joins IMI

1993

Erie begins designing integrated tooling
(IT) systems

2001

Syron launches Versa Tooling.

2002

Launch of Carbon Fiber structures and
repair service.

2005

Syron & Erie joins IMI

2011

ISI, Erie and Syron form
Norgren Automation Solutions, LLC.
(NAS)

2015

NAS integrates into IMI Precision
Engineering’s Auto In-plant vertical.

2016

Vaccon is acquired by Bimba
Manufacturing, which will be acquired by IMI in 2018.

2018

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of
our press room grippers.

2019

Ethernet DBA.

2020

Improved Pressroom Gripper System
released.

Vaccon Inc. aligns with NAS to
provide full range of material handling
products.
