Establishing a system within the constraints of the existing floor plan, existing dies and presses, and variability offered by human operators along with movement of material into and out of the cell proved to be difficult to formulate within a manageable ROI and timeline.
Solution
Quick brainstorming and option discussions with the OEM team provided clarity on features that provided immediate automation benefits without over automating. Simulation of the cell demonstrated clarity and confirmation that the solution was correct. Several quick iterations provided an optimized final design surpassing the customers initial throughput targets.
