  • There is Water beyond the filter Inlet, what should I do?
    - The air has a high temperature and as it cools downstream moisture condenses to water. Fit a dryer, pre-cool air or fit the filter immediately prior to application.
  • Water passing through the filter, what can I do?
A: The Water level in bowl could be above the baffle. Drain water.
B: Flow capacity of filter could have been exceeded. Maintain the flow within capacity of filter or change to a filter capable of handling desired flows.
  • Why is Dirt passing through the filter and what can I do about it?
A: The Element seals could be missing or defective. (N.B. Seals not required on some units)Try Replacing the seal or Tightening the element.
B: The element cold be damaged. Replace the element.
  • Why could there be an excessive pressure drop across a filter and what should I do?
A: The Micron rating of the filter element could be too small for the application. Use larger micron size element.
B: The Filter element could be blocked. Replace it with a new element.
C: The Flow requirement could be greater than the filter capacity. Use a larger filter.
  • Crazing of Polycarbonate bowl or milky appearance. What should I do?
A: Bowl has been cleaned with an incompatible fluid. You need to replace the bowl. Clean only in clean warm water and soap.
B: Bowl is being used in an area containing fumes or vapours incompatible with polycarbonate. Replace bowl. Eliminate source of problem or convert from plastic to metal bowls.
C: Compressor oil vapour may be causing problem. Replace bowl. Eliminate source of problem or convert from plastic to metal bowls.
D: Air intake to compressor contain fumes or vapour incompatible with polycarbonate. Replace bowl. Eliminate source of problem or convert from plastic to metal bowls.

  • Drip Rate changes after setting the lubricator - Possible cause: Fade. Remedy: Readjust drip rate
  • Oil Emulsified in the lubricator - Possible cause: Water in lubricator. Remedy: Fit filter immediately upstream.
  • Oil Foaming in the lubricator - Possible cause: Over aeration. Remedy: Check bowl seals for slight leaks
  • There is no drip rate on the lubricator -
    Possible causes:
A: Oil adjustment knob fully clockwise,
    B: Low oil level,
C: Airflow through lubricator too low,
    D: Blocked oil filter screen.
    E: Air leaks.
    Remedies:
    A: Readjust knob,
    B: Check oil level,
C: Use smaller size lubricator or Remove bowl and sight feed adjustment dome and clear syphon tube,
D: Remove sight feed adjustment dome and clean or replace screen located in dome assembly,
E: Check bowl, filler plug and sight dome seals. Tighten if necessary.
  • Why choose a Ported Air Preparation unit ?
Units from the Ported range are intended for individual connection, and require a combination of screw fittings for the piping, which Norgren also produce. Units are available in a wide range of sizes. Note: all components from the Excelon Plus range also stand alone as ported units.
  • Why choose an Excelon Plus Air Preparation Unit ?
Excelon Plus is the modular air preparation system from Norgren. Although directly ported, thanks to a patented Quikclamp connection system, any product from the Excelon Plus range can be used as either a stand alone unit or a modular assembly if more than one product is required. Wall brackets are assembled to the Quikclamps, and pipe adaptors are used to rigidly fix the pipework in position. Excelon Plus units can be slid into the pipework using the Quikclamps. It also allows quick and easy removal of the units for servicing or replacement, without disturbing the pipe joints.
  • Why choose an Olympian Plus Air Preparation Unit ?
The unique Olympian plug-in design has been updated to set new standards for ease of use and system flexibility. Based on the popular modular yoke with plug-in units, an Olympian Plus system allows simple, speedy assembly of accessories and combination units. The plug-in system is ideal for rapid installation and maintenance.
  • Why should I buy a new filter element for a general purpose filter?
An element can lose 15% efficiency each time it is cleaned. Elements are low cost, so it is advisable to replace them.
